Synopsis for Prey

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Anthony: Okay, so I was very excited hearing about this film, and I immediately thought, “Well, Helen needs to watch this movie.” So I wanted to start with you, Helen. What were your initial impressions of Prey?

Helen: Oh my gosh, I loved it. I loved it!

Anthony: Nice.

Helen: I was amped. It’s continuing my theme of aliens and horses on this podcast.

David: That’s true! Very true.

Helen: But, yes, I wouldn’t deign to call myself any kind of an expert. I did major in archeology, specifically on native peoples, but of the southeast. The Comanche are in the West. So I’m not like an authority on native peoples of the Great Plain, but it still looks pretty accurate to me, and my hackles are always a little bit up when Native characters are portrayed. And, wow, did this pass with flying colors in every way. I was smiling from beginning to end. I had a great time. Everything looked beautiful. Everything seemed accurate. Everything seemed badass. Everyone was represented well. Wow, I loved it.

Anthony: What were your initial impressions, David?…
